How a Simple Truth About Time Completely Changed My Perspective
Share
I think I get it now…
This past weekend, my husband and I were in Dallas for a conference all about creating passive income for physicians through real estate (and no, I’m not a doctor lol).
We had the chance to listen to some incredible speakers, meet inspiring people, and hear about their journeys. Their stories weren’t just about making money but about the deeper purpose behind achieving financial freedom. They have more time with family, more experiences, helping others, and living life on their own terms.
Seeing what was possible for them made me realize that it could be possible for us too.
The twist?
It wasn’t the money talks that hit me that weekend.
It was a mindset presentation by Ryan Holiday. He talked about how the challenges we face can help us grow and we also have the power to choose who we become through those obstacles (it was so good, I'll have to read his book!).
But there was one thing he said that has been on repeat in my head, like a broken record I just can’t stop playing:
“Don’t act as if you have forever.”
Wow! 🤯 just take that in for a second.
Sometimes we get so caught up in the hustle, in the challenges, in the things or people that frustrate us. And we just forget that each day we wake up is a gift. It’s a chance to live, to love, be kind, and to go after those dreams that have been sitting on the back seat.
I’m not saying we should ignore the hard stuff. We all have challenges. But what if we also took time to focus and appreciate the good? Enjoy those moments and little things the universe or God (whatever you believe in) sends our way every single day? Be kind to others and be kind to ourselves? Be intentional with the time we do have? And just live fully?
Because here’s the thing: we don’t live forever. Life is a gift. It’s like Christmas morning every day.
And the best part? You are the greatest gift of all.
So, yeah… I think I get it now.
